- The file refers to the arrest at Dubai of W Bethell [also spelled Bethel], a British citizen employed as a coxswain by BOAC [British Overseas Airways Corporation], who was accused of assaulting a supervisor and setting fire to a BOAC launch [or flying boat by one account]. The papers include correspondence from the Government of India; the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf [Arnold Crawshaw Galloway]; the Political Agent, Bahrain [Cornelius James Pelly]; the Residency Agent, Sharjah [Jassim bin Mohammed]; and BOAC, and covers the issues of the jurisdiction under which Bethell was to be tried; the precise nature of events; and the location of any trial.
