- The file comprises copies of correspondence concerning complaints made by the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain, Charles Dalrymple Belgrave, of the behaviour of British, United States and Indian troops in Bahrain, and in particular reports of their ‘interference’ with women in local villages (f 2). Correspondence from the Political Agent at Bahrain (Cornelius James Pelly) to the Officer Commanding Troops at Bahrain, and the Officer Commanding US Army Transport Troops at Bahrain (f 3, f 4) requests confirmation of whether the villages and gardens of Bahrain are considered out of bounds for troops stationed on the islands, with the former replying that they have been out of bounds for some time (f 5).
