This file contains correspondence regarding the desire of Shaikh Salmān bin Ḥamad Āl Khalīfah (the Ruler of Bahrain) to increase the amount of civil list payments made annually to him and other members of the ruling family.
Much of the correspondence is between Charles Belgrave, Adviser to the Government of Bahrain; a number of different Political Agents in Bahrain and Lieutenant-Colonel William Rupert Hay, Political Resident in the Persian Gulf. Also enclosed is one letter in Arabic sent to Belgrave from Shaikh Salmān bin Ḥamad Āl Khalīfah regarding the issue (folio 14).
The file also contains a copy of Kuwait's civil list payments that was sent to Hay by Lieutenant-Colonel Arnold Crawshaw Galloway, Political Agent in Kuwait (folio 59).
