The file relates to the service of or applications for positions as farrash/farash [ferash], peon, sweeper, car cleaner, launch nakhuda [nakhoda], office boy, khalasi, launch crew, watchman in the Agency launch, driver, messenger (farrash), Agency motor car driver, gardener, cleaner and any available post.

The papers, which consist of letters, notes, memoranda, statements, and reports, include applications for employment; requests for advances of pay; requests for leave (including leave to go on pilgrimage to Mecca); discharge from employment; papers relating to disciplinary matters; resignations; requests for character references; certificates (references); requests for verification of persons; memoranda recording checks of police records; papers relating to travel (deck tickets, unberthed passage without food); records of the payment of the dearness allowance; office orders recording appointments and discharges, grants of leave, and resignations; correspondence relating to the receipt of money recovered in the Bahrain courts; a request for items of uniform; list of farrashes granted leave during the current year; medical reports with associated correspondence; reports on employment; papers relating to a request to bore a water-well in a house for washing purposes, August to September 1948; a request for a water pipeline connection, March 1949; miscellaneous correspondence concerning a complaint against a colleague, the wages of cleaners, and the grant of accommodation within the Agency compound; personal letters, and many personal comments on the correspondence by Agency officials.

Many of the letters are written in Arabic, often accompanied by translations and summaries in English. Letters in Arabic are often signed using thumbprints.

The correspondence in this file covers the dates 8 October 1945 to 29 November 1950; however the overall date range is supplied by the note of a conversation at the front of the file, and an entry in the notes towards the rear of the file.
