The file contains correspondence between the following:

The papers concern prisoners of the Bahrain state, in particular their deportation to places such as India. Many of the papers are covering letters, receipts, invoices, and requests for payment for the upkeep of prisoners held in jails in Karachi, Sukkur, and Hyderabad. This correspondence is between officials of those jails, the Political Agent in Bahrain, and the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain.
Several other matters are covered by the file, including:
- arrangements between the Political Agent and the Commandant of Police for prisoner labour services at the Agency and elsewhere;
- scheduling for police post duties;
- transfers for medical treatment;
- purchase of uniforms;
- dismissal of staff;
- attempted escapes;
- an attempt by a deported convict to re-enter Bahrain from Najd (Saudi Arabia).
Folio 173 is a copy of a letter, dated 6 June 1928, from the Secretary of State for Colonies to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf regarding the official title of the Agent at Jeddah and which is to be used in correspondence with Ibn Saud, ruler of Najd and its dependencies.
