The file contains several death returns for British and British Indian subjects who died in Bahrain. These were compiled by the Political Agent, Bahrain and sent to the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Bushire. From 1943, the returns are annual not quarterly.
There are several birth and death certificates, marriage notices and marriage certificates for British and British Indian subjects who were born, married or died in Bahrain. These were issued by the Political Agent, Bahrain in his capacity of Registrar.
There are numerous notifications of deaths received by the Political Agent, Bahrain, from relatives, employers and medical officers. These are in the form of letters or Notice of Death forms provided by the British Agency, Bahrain. There are also a few notifications of deaths at sea aboard British ships.
There are numerous notifications of births received by the Political Agent, Bahrain, from British and British Indian subjects asking the Political Agent to register the birth of their children in the Birth Register of British subjects kept at the British Agency, Bahrain. These notifications are in the form of letters or Notice of Birth forms provided by the British Agency, Bahrain.
Many of the notifications of births and deaths are from the personnel department or the staff hospital of The Bahrein Petroleum Oil Company, on behalf of their employees.
There is correspondence between the Political Agent, Bahrain and several Christian couples about the formalities, procedures and arrangements for religious and civil marriages in Bahrain.
There are many notes, memoranda and also printed copies of regulations concerning the registration of the births and deaths of British subjects in Bahrain and the solemnization of Christian marriages in Bahrain.
There are three documents in Arabic, relating to notifications of deaths (folios 88, 103, 109A).

- File papers are arranged chronologically and are followed by extensive file notes (ff.293-325), which include a list of documents in the file.
