Routine correspondence received at and sent from the Bahrain Political Agency. The file is a direct chronological continuation of ‘File 16/11 II Miscellaneous correspondence’ (IOR/R/15/2/1506). The correspondence covers a diverse range of topics of a routine nature, including: passport and travel arrangements for individuals; paperwork relating to the receipt of and despatch of articles; minor financial disputes, including small claims and outstanding debts; enquiries from individuals planning to travel to Bahrain and the surrounding region.
Other subjects covered in the file include:
- correspondence relating to the body of a United States serviceman, recovered on the Qatar coast in June 1948, including a post mortem report (ff 82-85, ff 97-99);
- an enquiry from an individual writing from the United States for a list of schools in Bahrain (f 87, with a list of schools in English, f 89, translated from a handwritten Arabic list, f 307);
- a telegram, dated September 1948, reporting the assassinations in Jerusalem of the French military officer Colonel André Serot, and the Swedish diplomat Count Folke Bernadotte (f 103);
- enquiries made in 1949 by the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI) into licensing laws in Bahrain (f 110, f 117, f 120);
- a British Government paper entitled ‘Themes of Publicity about the Commonwealth’, 1949 (ff 173-175);
- a report and accounts for the British Bank of Iran and the Middle East, 1950 (ff 256-259).

- The file’s contents are arranged in approximate chronological order, from the earliest item at the front to the latest at the end. The file notes at the end of the file (ff 288-306) mirror the chronological arrangement. A single folio (f 307) which was presumably misplaced, follows the file notes, and relates to correspondence in the file (f 87, f 89).
