Routine correspondence exchanged between the Political Agency at Bahrain, and the Persian Gulf Political Residency at Bushire. The file’s principal correspondents include: the Political Agent at Bahrain; the Persian Gulf Political Resident, or Secretary to the Political Resident; representatives of the Mesopotamia Persia Corporation Limited in Bahrain, operating as agents for Imperial Airways Limited.
A large portion of the file is correspondence relating to arrangements for Imperial Airways flights for Political Officers in the Gulf. Other subjects of note covered in the correspondence include:
- British Official Press summaries, produced by British Wireless in Rugby, England, covering the period 4 January to 4 February 1933 (ff 102-124);
- a Government of India report on an earthquake in Quetta, British Baluchistan (now in Pakistan) in May 1935, and Bahrain subscriptions to the Viceroy of India’s Quetta Earthquake Relief Fund (ff 171-177);
- arrangements for a visit to Bahrain and Qatar in 1937, by Foreign Office diplomat George William Rendel;
- correspondence relating to subscriptions raised in Bahrain, in response to Her Excellency the Marchioness of Linlithgow’s appeal for the King Emperor’s Anti-Tuberculosis Fund (ff 279-287).
