- Title:
- File A/3 III (3 B II) Slavery: cases of Muscat and Saudi Arabian slaves reported at Bahrain
- Scope & Content:
- The file contains correspondence and other papers relating to thirteen manumission applications heard at the Political Agency in Bahrain. Most of the slaves making the applications had travelled to Bahrain from Muscat and the al-Batinah region of Oman. In these cases, correspondence was exchanged between the Muscat and Bahrain Political Agencies, in order to verify the slave’s claims. One case involves an application made at the Bahrain Agency by a young boy, taken under false pretences from Zanzibar to Bahrain. Arrangements were made to send him back to Zanzibar (folios 34-50).
