The file contains correspondence mainly in the form of petitions raised by local residents, shop owners, merchants, as well as foreign subjects of Bahrain. These cover various issues including debt recovery, marriage between Shia and Sunni Muslims, land ownership, and inheritance. The petitions were raised either to the Political Agency, Bahrain, or to the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain.
The main correspondence is between the Political Agency, Bahrain, and Charles Dalrymple Belgrave, Adviser to the Government of Bahrain. A significant amount of the file is in Arabic.
