The file chiefly comprises completed copies of Notice of Birth forms, the applicants being the fathers of newborn children in Bahrain who were non-native to Bahrain, and therefore coming under the jurisdiction of the Political Agent, as specified in the Bahrain Order in Council. The forms were sent to the Political Agent at Bahrain in his capacity as Registrar of Births and Deaths, specified in the King’s Regulation under Article 70(c) of the Bahrain Order in Council 1913 (No.1 of 1922).

The forms contain the following information: name, description and address of applicant; capacity of the applicant (father); date and place of birth; name, race and religion of the mother and father; gender and name of child.

Most of the forms detail children born to employees of the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), and are frequently enclosed with covering letters from the BAPCO Chief Local Representative, as well as BAPCO certificates of birth, which specify the time and date of birth, and whether the father is a British or United States citizen.
