This volume contains records of the expenses incurred and payments received by British agents and the Packet Agency at Cairo from 13 January 1838 to 30 September 1859. It includes the dates of the transactions, details of the transactions themselves, and the amounts of money given in Piastres. The expenses and payments include the following transactions:
- The expenses incurred, and payments received by Lieutenant-Colonel Patrick Campbell, British Agent and Consul General in Egypt, including his transactions with Hagi Yousouff [Ḥajjī Yūsuf] Sack Maker (ff 4-5); ‘Abd Allah Aburisk [‘Abdullāh Abū Rizq] Groom (ff 5-6); Suliman Hussein Berberi [Sulaymān Ḥusayn Barbarī]; Hassan Abdullah Berberi [Ḥasan ‘Abdullāh Barbarī]; and Alfred S Walne (ff 8-13), 13 January 1838-31 March 1840 (ff 1-13)
- The expenses incurred, and payments received by Captain John Lyons, Royal Navy, Agent in Egypt, including his transactions with Walne (ff 14-45), 1 April 1840-30 June 1848 (ff 13-46)
