This file is divided into two sections, titled 'Cairo Packet Agency, A/C Current' and 'Cairo Packet Agency, Mail Charges', and contains the accounts current and mail charges of the Cairo Packet Agency, from January 1838 through September and March 1859 respectively. The accounts current and mail charges include the following additional information:
- The accounts current of Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Campbell, Agent to the East India Company, with the Alfred S Walne Packet Agency in Cairo, including the monthly transmission of mail to and from Suez, receipt and disbursement of coal from Alexandria, salaries for the Agent and the Janissary guards for each quarter, the personal account of Campbell and the monthly balance carried forward, remittances to the Suez Agency, and other extraordinary expenses in 1838 (ff 2-7), 1839 (ff 8-9), and 1840 (f 10) given in Egyptian Piastres
- The accounts current of Captain Lyons, Royal Navy, Agent to the East India Company, with the Alfred S Walne Agency in 1840 (ff 11-18), 1841 (ff 19-28), 1842 (ff 29-40), 1843 (ff 41-52), 1844 (ff 53-64), 1845 (ff 65-76), 1846 (ff 77-88), 1847 (ff 89-100), and up to July 1848 (ff 101-107)
