This file contain tables showing the estimated strength of Russian troops at various locations in northern Persia [Iran] on 13 May 1914, 10 June 1914, and 8 July 1914. The tables are accompanied by notes describing increases and decreases in troops at specific locations and sources of information.
The tables were compiled by Major Richard Steel, Military Attaché at the British Legation in Tehran, and sent by Sir Walter Townsley, British Minister in Tehran, to Sir Edward Grey, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. The file also contains correspondence dated 8 July-6 August 1914 indicating that the papers were forwarded to the Military Department of the India Office.
