Correspondence (some of which is undated) from friends and relations: including letters from playwright Peter Nichols, actress Wendy Nottingham, actress Belinda Lang, consultant psychiatrist Dr Maurice Lipsedge, Right Honourable Nick Raynsford MP, Bernard Quaritch Ltd and Jonathan Croall with an exert from Croall’s biography of Dame Sybil Thorndike (2008). Two postcards from Gill including one to Harold Pinter offering congratulations on his Nobel Prize; an incomplete letter from critic Alastair Macaulay and a possibly unpublished poem by writer Adrian Spendlow.
File also includes an undated pantomime production photograph, an undated photograph of a young man, a handwritten letter from “Peg” (1968) to Gill’s cousin “Mary” regarding his early fame and an official letter from The College of Arms (1990).
