- Partly typewritten and printed, partly autograph poetry drafts with some autograph annotation. The following poems are included - 'Three Poems for J.R. - Waif, Lovesick, Atavist', 'Old Oats', 'Epigraph', 'Black Hair', 'Comics', 'Anniversary', 'The Mayfly is Frail', 'The Last Of The 1st/5th Lancashire Fusiliers', 'A Trout?', 'Snapshot', 'Playing with an Archetype', 'Platform One', 'Mother-Tongue', 'Everything is on its Way to the River' and 'Why the 21st Child Could Not Be Lifted'. 'Three Poems for Leslie Norris' which consists of 'High Water', 'Snapshot' and 'Mallard' (which was previously published as part of 'A Primer of Birds' in 1981) are also included. Further drafts of uncollected poetry written between 1992 and 1997 can be found in Add MS 88918/129/9.
