The notebook contains notes about memorising poetry including techniques to use; notes about Hughes's work with Seneca's Oedipus and Iron Man (these bear some similarities to notes about the literary works found in a draft of a document for Sotheby's that can be found in Add MS 88918/7/1) and a list of writers and poets and their work. Loose pages include a draft of Hughes's thoughts about science. This material is undated and the date range given is an approximation.
