Title:

‘FOREIGN LETTERS FROM INDIA Feb. & Mar. 1873’

Scope & Content:

This volume contains copies of Political, General, Finance, and Revenue Despatches from the Government of India Foreign Department to the Secretary of State for India, mostly dating from February and March 1873, with one Political Despatch dated 2 March 1874 (IOR/L/PS/6/107, ff 1-10a), and one General Despatch dated 21 November 1873 (IOR/L/PS/6/107, ff 37-57b).

The Despatches usually consist of a covering letter followed by enclosures (mostly copies of correspondence). Some of the Despatches include an abstract of contents after the covering letter, and there is more than one copy of most of the Despatches.

The Despatches are numbered and dated, and are usually also stamped with the date they were received.
