The file contains correspondence, telegrams, and reports from the Government of India External Department; the Commander in Chief in the Middle East; the War Office; the Foreign Office; the British Embassy in Tehran; and the Minister of State in Cairo, regarding a German-Persian plot for a coup against the British, organised by a German agent, Franz Mayer. The file concerns the arrest of a number of Germans and over one hundred Persians suspected of conspiring against the Allied cause, including General Zahidi (Zahedi), Colonel Ferouhar, Naubakht and General Kupal. There is mention of documents seized from Mayer's house in Isfahan. The file also contains intelligence reports concerning visits of Axis submarines to the Persian Gulf in 1943, and cooperation with Soviet authorities. The last letters in the file concern the release of the Persian prisoners between 1944 and 1945.
