The file contains correspondence between the Aden Chief Commissioner (Bernard Reilly), the Colonial Office, the India Office, and the Government of India Finance Department, regarding the pay and allowances of the Head Interpreter and Assistant Interpreters at the Arabic Branch, and the pay of the Confidential Clerk. Reilly's proposed revised pay scale is included at folio 28. The correspondence includes discussion of the increased workload for those posts at Aden, as a result of administrative changes and the Treaty of San'a.
The file includes a divider which gives a list of correspondence references contained in the file by year. This is placed at the end of the correspondence (folio 1).
