Correspondence regarding the Muscat royal family, in particular the bicentenary of the Al Bu Said [Āl Bū Sa‘īd] dynasty.
The majority of the papers concern the 200th anniversary of the Al Bu Said lineage attaining power in Oman in 1744. Several matters are discussed:
- the precise date on which to mark the event
- how to mark the event, including the issue of a series of commemorative stamps in Muscat and Zanzibar (where a strand of the dynasty holds power) and the discussion over design and quantities
- whether the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) should cover the event in some way
- messages of congratulation from various figures, including King George VI of Britain

- report of the birth of the Sultan's son in December 1940 (folio 86)
