Correspondence concerning the payment of court fees within the limits of the China (Kashgar) Order in Council, 1920. The correspondence is between officials at the Government of India (Foreign and Political Department), Foreign Office, the Governments of Bombay and Punjab, the Consul General at Kashgar, and the British Embassy in Peking.
The papers include minutes, draft letters, and copies of various legislation. Matters dealt with by the correspondence include:
- The question of whether Indian court fees are leviable on cases tried in Kashgar, including the amendment to the Kashgar Order in Council to provide for the application of the Indian Court Fees Act, 1870, to Kashgar
- Amendments to the Order in Council to provide for the payment of court fees in rupees, rather than the Kashgar Tael.
