Correspondence, drafts, minute papers, memoranda, and reports concerning matters connected to the registration of British subjects and protected persons in foreign countries. The first part of the file consists of the interdepartmental discussion following the release of a Foreign Office report on British communities abroad (Miscellaneous No.8 (1920) - folios 167-74) which dealt with the matters of registration of British subjects, protected persons, and those naturalized in India and resulted in amended orders in Council for Maskat [Muscat], China (Kashgar), Bahrein [Bahrain], and the Persian Islands (see folios 103-26) in 1922.
