The file concerns the financing of the Muscat Political Agency after the closing of the Indian Treasury, in 1948.
The file is composed solely of internal correspondence between the Government of India, the Commonwealth Relations Office, the Political Agent at Muscat, and the Political Residency in the Persian Gulf.
Folios 1-50 were taken away from the file and held in a folder titled 'Closed Period', because they were produced by a different Government department, the Commonwealth Relations Office. These folios have been reinstated in the file.
