The file concerns the personnel employed at the British Legation at Tehran.
The file covers: increase of staff and related expenditure in 1928, accommodation, list of staff at the legation, installation of telephone systems, proposal to grant cost of living bonus to munshis and menial staff, employment of a third munshi in 1933, proposal to appoint two additional Vice Consuls in 1934, pay rises, and requests for financial contributions from Government of India. There are also later documents, from 1945, regarding the employment of Indian Orderlies at the Legation.
The file is composed solely of internal correspondence between the Foreign Office, the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, the Secretary of State for India, the British Legation at Tehran, and the Treasury.
