The file contains correspondence regarding visits to other countries by the Shaikh of Kuwait, Ahmad Al-Jabir Al-Sabah, between 1935 and 1948. The primary correspondents are: the Political Resident, Persian Gulf; the India Office; the Political Agency, Kuwait; the Shaikh of Kuwait; Buckingham Palace; and the British Consulate, Damascus.

The bulk of the file (folios 80-239) is concerned with a private visit made by the Shaikh to London in June and July 1935, as well as visits to Syria and other countries on his return journey. Other topics covered include:

• A proposed visit to Egypt in 1937 (folios 78-79)

• A proposed visit to Lebanon and Palestine in 1940 (folios 73-77)

• A visit to Pakistan and India in 1947 (folios 18-23)

• A proposed official visit to the UK in 1947 or 1948 (folios 3-17 and 35-71).

The file contains a single folio in French, a letter from the Foreign Ministry of France (folio 87).
