The file concerns arrangements for the administration of Bahrain in the absence of the Ruler, Shaikh Sir Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah [Ḥamad bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah].
Correspondence from Charles Darymple Belgrave, the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain, dated 1936, sets out the arrangements for the administration of the state during the absence in Europe of the Ruler and Belgrave himself. The arrangements cover the police, finances, the creation of a council consisting of two family members, correspondence, health, land, and related matters.
Further correspondence sets out the composition of a Council of Regency in 1938 and 1939.
The file includes a divider, which gives a list of correspondence references contained in the file by year. This is placed at the back of the correspondence.
