The file comprises copies of letters, telegrams and other papers relating to seven different applications to visit the Persian Gulf (mainly Kuwait, Yemen and Bahrain), which were submitted during the period 1931-35 by the following: Mrs Winifred J Howard-Clitty, Dorothy Mills, Mrs Margaret Mariam Agnes Cairnes, Miss Kathleen May Palmer-Smith, Mrs Vera Greenway, Lady Qadir, and Miss Clements. The file contains letters from each of the women stating their interest in travelling to the Gulf. Also included is correspondence between British officials discussing their views on the applications.
