The volume consists of published copies of correspondence between the Foreign Office, the India Office, the Government of India, the Admiralty, British administrative and diplomatic staff, foreign governments and their staff, and private individuals. It was printed for use by the Foreign Office.
The volume contains the following publications:
- ‘Part I Correspondence Respecting Affairs at Koweit [Kuwait]. 1896-1899.’ (ff 4-54)
- ‘Part II Further Correspondence Respecting Affairs of Koweit. 1900.’ (ff 55-95)
- ‘Part III Further Correspondence Respecting the Affairs of Koweit. 1901.’ (ff 96-190)
- ‘Part IV Further Correspondence Respecting the Affairs of Koweit. 1902.’ (ff 191-289)
- ‘Part V Further Correspondence Respecting the Affairs of Koweit. 1903.’ (ff 290-331).
The correspondence concerns activity in Koweit including the movement of ships and troops, attacks and conflicts, ‘piracy’, and German, Russian and Turkish activity. They also cover the establishment of the British Protectorate over Koweit [the Anglo-Kuwaiti Agreement] and conflict between Koweit and Nedj [Najd] [the Kuwaiti-Rashidi war].
A table of contents is included before each publication. The volume contains one map, catalogued as IOR/L/PS/20/FO12, f 240. It also includes a drawing of alternative routes from Zobeir [Al-Zubair] to Jehara [Al Jahra] on folio 177.

Foliation: the foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the inside front cover with 1 and terminates at the inside back cover with 334; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.
Pagination: the volume also contains an original pagination sequence.
- Arrangement:
- The papers are arranged in chronological order from the front to the rear of the volume. Each grouping of papers is assigned a consecutive number and most are followed by numbered enclosures. The volume is divided into five parts. The first part covers a three-year period and the following four parts cover a one-year period each. At the beginning of each part there is a title page and a detailed table of contents which includes the name of the correspondent, the date of correspondence, a subject summary and the page number on which that entry can be found in the volume.
