Full text in a folder and a green ring binder, being a revision of the earlier typewritten draft. The ring binder is inscribed 'Cider. 1st transcript typed', and the folder ''The abandoned shade, 2nd copy', listing the chapter titles in the order indicated by the original foliation of the typescript. A slip is enclosed inscribed 'Typescript for publishers, edited by C. Day Lewis', and the typescript is extensively amended in his hand, with some passages replaced by slips with amendments pasted over the original text and rearranged with new foliation . As well as the amendments from 'Carrie Burdock' to 'Poppy Green', a girl who appears as 'Rosie Green' in the typescript is also amended to 'Poppy Green'. The title-page and one list of contents show her as 'Rosie', on the later changed to 'Poppy' and back to 'Rosie'.
