The volume contains a chronological list of brief summaries of papers relating to the activities of the Indian Expeditionary Force D (also known as the Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force) between 1 and 15 November 1919. This is accompanied by appendices containing copies and extracts of these papers, which include telegrams and tables.
An index to the contents of this volume can be found at folios 1-2. The volume concerns:
- Military personnel issues, including the demobilisation of troops, leave, and reinforcements
- Disposal of surplus animals
- Discussion of the British withdrawal from Syria and Anatolia, and the continuation of the British occupation of Mesopotamia (‘including the Vilayat of Mosul’) and Palestine
- Proposed transfer of British officers from Force D to fill vacancies in the Indian Army Staff
- Killing of British officials near Akra [Akre] by Kurds
- Railway construction in Mesopotamia
- Proposal for the formation of ‘an Assyrian force under British control’ through the recruitment of Assyrian refugees in southern Russia
- The establishment of an Intelligence Service, based in Tehran, to monitor Bolshevik activities in the region of the Caspian Sea
- Coordination of intelligence networks in Persia [Iran], Kurdistan, and Azerbaijan.
