Personal and official papers of H. O. Arnold-Forster
- Scope & Content:
- Contains matriculation and examination certificates from University College, Oxford; a printed notice of the change of name by deed poll of H. O. Arnold and his three siblings to Arnold-Forster; passes permitting Arnold-Forster's movements in South Africa in 1900; notices of meetings of the Privy Council, including the meeting in 1903 at which Arnold-Forster was sworn of the council; signed dinner menus, one in Arnold-Forster's honour; an invitation to join the King and Queen for dinner; and four [autograph fair copy?] verses from Southey's poem 'All for love' beginning "A strong hand which he could not see". Also contains a printed letter of thanks from the Colonial Secretary, Jamaica to Mary Arnold-Forster for her assistance during the 1907 Kingston earthquake [the Arnold-Forsters were in Jamaica for the conference of the Imperial Cotton Growing Association when the earthquake occurred].
