Digital images of Iranian photographs taken in and around Iran in the late 19th to the early 20th centuries. Unfortunately, information about the provenance, context and subjects of the photographs is largely unknown, and so the information in this catalogue is necessarily incomplete. Photographers and dates have been identified below, where known:
1. Group portrait photograph showing men in ragged dress, posing with hookahs.
2. Women spinning. Qajar period [c1880-1925].
3. Execution of a murderer by hanging, 1313H [1895/1896], photographer Ali Ranjbar.
4. Image of parked cars in Tehran, during the Pahlavi I era [1925-1941].
5. Group portrait photograph of the parliament of Mozaffaredin Shah (Mozzafari-al-Din Shah) [1906-1907].
6. Group portrait of a teacher and pupil in a school house in Tehran, during the Qajar period [c1880-1925].
7. Group portrait of schoolchildren learning to write. Photograph is annotated in Persian "Maktab Kahneh in Qajar Period".
8. Group portrait of clerics in Tehran, Qajar period.
Images 9, 10 and 11 show photographs displayed on the walls of the photography shop Tahami, and were taken during the EAP001 project.
