This manuscript contains:
ff. 1v-2v: an early modern list of contents;
ff. 3-117: Jerome's De viri illustribus (Clavis Patrum Latinorum 616) and Vita S Pauli (Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina 6596), extracts from Isidore's Eymologiae (Books 1, 3) Clavis Patrum Latinorum 1186), book III of Cyprian's Ad Quirinum Testimonia (Clavis Patrum Latinorum 39), De computo paschali (once attributed to Cassiodorus), and computus texts, written in the region around northeastern France in the second half of the 8th century;
ff. 118-120: blank leaves;
ff. 120-53: compustical and prognostic material, charms, annals of Christ Church, Canterbury, extracts from Ælfric's De temporibus anni, and notes on topics like the ages of the world, and written at Chirst Church, Canterbury, in the late 11th century.

Dimensions: 230 × 220 mm (text block ranges from 175 x 130 mm to 200 x 165 mm).
Foliation: ff. 153 (ff. 1-2 and 118-19 are early modern endleaves, + 2 unfoliated modern paper leaves at the beginning and 2 unfoliated parchment and 1 unfoliated paper leaves at the end).
Script: pre-Caroline French minuscule, Caroline minuscule, English vernacular minuscule, early Protogothic.
Binding: BM/BL in-house, July 1957.

Sir Robert Bruce Cotton (b. 1571, d. 1631), 1st baronet, antiquary and politician: owned; his name, a note, and the date '1602' are inscribed on f. 3r; loaned to Francis Tate, John Selden, and William le Neve in the 1st half of the 17th century (see Tite, Early Records (2003), p. 116).
Cotton’s collection was augmented by his son, Sir Thomas Cotton (b. 1594, d. 1662), 2nd baronet, and his grandson, Sir John Cotton. Sir John Cotton (b. 1621, d. 1702), 3rd baronet: bequeathed the entire Cotton collection of books and manuscripts to trustees ‘for Publick Use and Advantage’, 12 and 13 William III, c. 7. Formed one of the foundation collections of the British Museum in 1753.
