- A letter from Thomas Boleyn to Thomas Wolsey, dated 16 November 1519, recording how Henry VIII had reneged on his earlier promise not to shave off his beard until his summit with Francis I the following year (as a sign of his enthusiasm for their meeting). The French delegation was reassured by the knowledge that this had been at Queen Katherine's personal request, and that Henry and Francis's "love is not in their beards but in their hearts.".
