Also concerning his marriages to: Anne Boleyn (c. 1500–1536), queen of England and second consort of Henry VIII; Anne of Cleves (1515–1557), queen of England and fourth consort of Henry VIII; Katherine Howard (1518x24–1542), queen of England and Ireland and fifth consort of Henry VIII; and Katherine Parr (1512–1548), queen of England and Ireland and sixth consort of Henry VIII. Including the submission of Lady Mary Tudor, later Mary I (1516–1558), queen of England and Ireland.

Sir Robert Bruce Cotton (1571-1631), 1st baronet, antiquary and politician: former owner.
Edward Herbert (1582?–1648), first Baron Herbert of Cherbury and first Baron Herbert of Castle Island, diplomat and philosopher: loaned, 1636 (see Tite).
Cotton’s collection was augmented by his son, Sir Thomas Cotton (b. 1594, d. 1662), 2nd baronet, and his grandson, Sir John Cotton.
Sir John Cotton (b. 1621, d. 1702), 3rd baronet: bequeathed the entire Cotton collection of books and manuscripts to trustees ‘for Publick Use and Advantage’, 12 and 13 William III, c. 7. Formed one of the foundation collections of the British Museum in 1753.
