Notebook inscribed on the spine ’XI’ and on the inside cover ‘Death of a seagull, c. 1979 – early ?, then abandoned, A splash of red’ with a note by the author of later progress on the work. ‘Death of a seagull’ was, in fact, rewritten as ‘Cool repentance, see Add MS 88956/3/42-45.
