Elizabethan Poetry and Drama: 'A Register of all the noble men of England sithence the Conquest created', the names and arms (mostly in blazon, a few in trick) of all peers down to the Earl of Essex (1572), with the addition of the Earl of Nottingham (1597), with, at the beginning and end, a synopsis of a five-act play 'Publii Ovidii Nasonis Meleager' performed by the 'Children of Paules players' (the boys of St Paul's School), title and act-headings in Latin, the synopsis in English; and seven poems of which one is attributed to 'Mr Rawleigh' and five to Sir Thomas Heneage. The Raleigh poem, in three 6-line stanzas, begins: Farewell falce Love thow oracle of lies. The Heneage poems (known only here) are: Most welcome love, thow mortall foe to lies (three 6-line stanzas); The markes of thoughtes and messeingers of will (one 6-line stanza); Madame, who once in paper puts his thoughts (one 6-line stanza); Idle or else but seldom busied best (sonnet); Seldome and short be all, our happiest houres (sonnet).
