- Title:
- Tālib Huchan
- Scope & Content:
-
The Tālib Huchan is a text on Sufi theology. The author, Golām Huchan, wrote the text in 1549 CE and the acquired manuscript was copied by an anonymous person much later. It is fragmented. The front pages and the end pages are missing.
The significance of the text lies in the fact that this is one of the ealiest texts dealing with Sufi themes found in the area of Cāchār. It reveals the manner in which Sufi literature was introduced in the Sibāi, Cāchār region of Āssam.
The original text is hand written using black ink, with decorations in red ink. The lines of the book are also in black ink. The handwritten text copied here is undated. There are no page numbers, but the main text has been copied onto pages 1-436. The volume measures 205mm x 165mm.
