Autograph copy of an invective by Michael Apostolis, Greek humanist, directed against his student Emmanuel Atramyttenos and another Emmanuel (possibly, Manuel Gregoropoulos, according to Barker p. 14). Tit. Μιχαήλου Ἀποστόλη τοῦ Βυζαντίου, Λόγος κατὰ Ἐμμανουηλοῖν μιαρωτάτοιν αὐτοῦ φοιτηταῖν, τοῦ μὲν Κρητὸς Ἀτραμυττινοῦ τοῦ δὲ [ἑλίου κουρτεσίου] Εἵλωτος οἷν ὁμοίους τὸ τῆς κινήσεως μέτρον ὁ χρόνος οὐκ ἐπεῖδεν ἔς γε ἡμᾶς [post corr ex αὐτὸν]. [_ _ _] ἐξεδόθη Λουκίῳ ἐν Κρήτης Χάνδακι. Inc. Εἴ μὲν ᾔδεσαν οἱ Κρῆτες, expl. Καὶ ὡς ἱστὸν φαλαγκίων καὶ κώνωπα ἥγηνται.

Foliation: ff 18 + ii (i and ii are foliated but not included in the official foliation), plus sixteen unfoliated blank leaves at the end of the manuscript.
Dimensions: 200 x 145 mm.
Ruling: 135 x 85 mm, 24 lines per page.
Binding: Half brown, British Museum leather, 1970.
Scribe: Autograph of Μιχαὴλ Ἀποστόλης (Michael Apostolius) (Repertorium 1A, no. 278). It contains many autograph corrections and alterations as well as later Latin additions.

Francis Bernard (d. 1698), apothecary and physician.
Part of the great collection of manuscripts and artefacts gathered by the physician Sir Hans Sloane (1660-1753) and purchased at his death from his executors by the Act of Parliament which also established the British Museum.
