Foliation: ff 329. Five unfoliated modern paper flyleaves at the beginning and five at the end.
Dimensions: 295 x 225 mm.
Ruling: 245 x 165 mm, Leroy K 44C2, 22 lines per page.
Binding: Blue leather, British Museum, 1963.
Decoration: Full-page illuminated evangelist portraits, ff 1v, 63v, 94v, 131v, the first being a replacement of the mid 14th century. 5 large foliate patterned headpieces in colours and gold (ff 1r, 64r, 95r, 132r, 238r). 16 smaller foliate or patterned headpieces in colours and gold (ff 65r, 149r, 164v, 166v, 191r, 255r, 263v, 282r, 291v, 298r, 310v, 303v, 308r, 313v, 317r, 324r). Large initials in colours, many zoomorphic (including birds or fish), or including human figures or body parts, harpies, or vases. Large brown initials. Ekphonetic notation in red ink.

Provenance:
? The monastery of the Panaghia on the island of Chalce, Princes' Islands, in 1626: the MS may have been acquired along with Arundel MS 539, which contains an ownership inscription from this monastery,
Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646), 2nd earl of Arundel, 4th earl of Surrey, and 1st earl of Norfolk, art collector and politician; probably acquired by his agents Petty or Roe in 1626, along with Arundel 539 (see Negotiations 1740, p. 500).
Henry Howard (b. 1628, d. 1684), 6th duke of Norfolk, presented to the Royal Society in 1667: Bernard (1697) III, no. 3453.

Purchased by the British Museum from the Royal Society together with 549 other Arundel manuscripts in 1831.
