Origin: Eastern Mediterranean.
Provenance:
Metrophanes Kritopoulos (b. c. 1589, d. 1639), Patriarch of Alexandria: his ownership inscription, f 1r (᾽Εκ τῶν Μητροφάνους ἱερομονάχου τοῦ Κριτοπούλου), like Cambridge, Trinity College, MSS O.3.15 and O.4.21, both from the collection of Patrick Young. Probably still owned by Metrophanes in Nov. 1622 (see note by Young in Royal MS 16 C V, f 2v).
In the Royal Library by 1626, when seen by Ussher (cf. Kemke, p. 129).
?John Theyer (bap. 1598, d. 1673), antiquary: stamped on spine 'E. Coll. Theyer', but not identifiable in his sale-catalogue, and lacking his monogram.
