Contains the Fabrica Horologa Universal, a work on dialling, by Andres de Vega, a confessor of Observant Franciscans in the province of Granada, which he dedicated to Luis de Guzmán, advisor to the Minister Provincial of the Franciscans of the province of Granada. The work on the manuscript probably started in 1626 (the date inscribed in the image, f. 16r) and finished in 1627, the year of its presentation.
The text is divided in 6 books, with a preface (ff. 1*r-3*v): book 1 (ff. 1r-42v); book 2 (ff. 43r-79v); book 3 (ff. 80r-96v); book 4 (ff. 97r-104v); book 5 (ff. 105r-116v); book 6 (ff. 117r-144v); with an index of books and chapters (ff. 145r-146v).

Provenance:
Luis de Guzmán, advisor to the Minister Provincial of the Franciscans of the province of Granada: dedicated and probably presented to him by the author, Andres de Vega, in 1627 (f. 1r).
Nathaniel Noel (fl. 1681-c. 1753), bookseller, employed by Edward Harley for buying books and manuscripts on the Continent: acquired from him on 12 September 1722, see Hunfret Wanley inscription (f. ii recto).
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta, née Cavendish Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
