Grant, for £60, by Vincent Greene, late of Burton upon Trent, co. Staff., yeoman (and reciting indenture dated 6 April 1598) to Anthony Barker of Cowdale, husbandman, of his mansion house in Cowdale in which the said Anthony lives, of a moiety of 5 half-parts of one messuage and tenement in Cowdale and 10 and a half acres of land containing in estimation 5 'maior' 5 'minor', lying in the vill, fields and territory of Cowdale, namely a moiety of 5 half-parts of one croft, 5 parcels of enclosed land called le broade yerde and a moiety of 5 half-parts of one parcel of enclosed land called le Earnest, 2 acres of land, 5 'maior' 5 'minor' in le further flatt between the land of George Toar to the north and land of Edward Benett to the south, 2 acres in the same furlong between the land of the same Edward on both sides, a half acre in the same furlong between the same Edward's land to the north, and five of moor to the south, and one acre of enclosed land 5 'maior' and 5 'minor' called le olde feilde, and 5 acres of enclosed land 5 'maior' and 5 'minor' on le Halewaye heade between the land of John Jackson on the north and Edward Benett on the south, and all houses, barns, buildings etc. in the same vill and fields all late in the occupation of the said Anthony Barker.

Endorsements: This present writing was sealed and delivered by the within-named Vincent Greene the day and year written, and also possession and seizin of all the within specified house, lands and hereditaments were delivered the same day by the within-named Vincent Greene to the within-named Anthony Barker in the form of the said writing, in the presence of Andrew Morewoodde of Staden, yeoman, George Toar, yeoman, John Jackson and Henry Heathcote, all of Cowdale, George Ned... of Camberfelde, John ... of ...., and many others.
