At a 'parva Curia' (small court), of Anthony Lowe esquire, of his manors of Alderwasley and Ashleyhay, co. Derby, William Blackewell, esquire, in his own person, and Mary his wife in her absence by her husband, surrendered a messuage with the buildings thereon, and one close of meadow called le Carr medowe, one other close called le Cow close, two crofts called le Way croft and le Yeard croft respectively, now in the tenure of Agnes Spendelove, widow, and one other close of land and pasture called le Deade Carr, in the tenure of Joan Willimott, widow, all in Ashleyhay, and one messuage in Alderwasley and one close or croft called Singersell, containing one acre of land or thereabouts, and one close or croft called le Calver croft in Alderwasley, in the occupation of Ralph Vigars, to the use of Adam Wolley; and the said Adam being presesnt, at the third view of frankpledge at the 'curia magna' (great court), held 9 October following, seisin was delivered by the steward; entry-fine.[Signed] Martin Marshall.
