Indenture between Roger Meynours esquire, serjeant of the King's Cellar, and Anthony Lowe, gentleman, whereas the king in his duchy of Lancaster granted on the 17 May of this present year to the said Roger the custody of the park of Postern in co. Derby during the nonage of Henry Bradshaw, son and heir of John Bradshaw deceased, who held of the king certain lands as part of the duchy of Lancaster, as well as the wardship and marriage of the said Henry, and whereas the said Roger claims in the right of the said Henry the custody of the park of Postern, in that Robert de Ferrers was sometime seised of the said park and 15 acres in Ulnegrave and 2 acres of meadow in Wilnelechemore in Windley in co. Derby, and gave the said lands to Nicholas of Crompton and Isolda his wife and their heirs, to hold by service of the keeping of the park of Postern, the which Henry is cousin and heir of the said Nicholas and Isolda, namely son of John, son of Robert, son of Robert, son of Henry, son of John, son of Maud, daughter of William, son of Henry, son of the said Nicholas Crompton and Isolda; and where also before this time the said park by the king's agreement has been enlarged and one piece of land called Hilley added, by reason of which enlargement certain patents have been granted to sundry persons by the name of the keeping of the park and by the same the fee of one penny a day has been granted to the persons named; and amongst other patents the king that now is during the life of the said John Bradshaw, father of the said Henry, has granted the said office and the said fee of one penny a day to the said Anthony for his life; and for as much as the said John Bradshaw and all his ancestors have always occupied the same office with all the profits belonging to the same, with the lodge of the same park, any other grants notwitstanding, and whereas the persons named in the later grants have have had the said fee of one penny a day only and never meddled with the custody of the same park nor taken any profits of the same, witnesses that for the saving of the title of the said Henry to the said office when he shall come to his full age, and for saving also of the title of the said Anthony to the fee of one penny a day, it is now agreed between the parties that the said Roger shall peaceably enjoy the said office and the profits thereof within the same park, and the said Anthony shall receive the said fee of one penny a day, without hindrance.
