Charter of feoffment in tail delivered to Mr Armiter of Doncaster, January 13, 1640.Grant from Robert Laghton of Laghton to John Vescy of Morthen and Robert Vescy of Brampton his son and heir, of 7 messuages with a cottage and garden adjoining, and 7 bovates of land lying divided in the vill and fields of Brampton in le Morthing, Woodhousefield and Morthinge [Morthen], which descended to him at the death of Robert Laghton his father, who sometime held the same with William Myrfin, rector of Wickersley, by the grant of Roger Vescy, and to the heirs male of the said Robert Vescy, with remainder to Catherine, Joan and Alice, daughters of the said Robert Vescy. Dated at Morthen, co. York. 2. [on inside page] - In a charter indented, Simon Hililard of Wickersley and William his son of the same, enfeoffed Thomas Shirle and Nicholas Halle with one tenement and with the said land in Wickersley to the use of the aforesaid Simon during his lifetime and after his death to ...; and one parcel of land lying, viz. one rood lying in Isackfield between the land of ... Vescy to the east and along Leke ... on the west, and to the south abutting on Kirke ... pitts ...; and another piece of land lying upon the hedge land of Francis Leake....In the book of the supervisors of the Chantry and elsewhere in co. York (among others) containing as underwritten -Chantry of the Trinity in the parish church of Tickhill - To the king's majesty parly ixs. vjd. ob. To the Castle of Tickhill for Boynes, xvd. To the heirs of Fitzwilliam and Free Rent, xxijd. To the Lo[rd] Scroope for free rent, xd.
