Conveyance from John Zowch of Codnor, co. Derby, esquire, to William Harries of Oakthorpe, co. Derby, gentleman, all those grounds enclosed with pales or other fences, known as the Newgrounds, in the parish of Alferton alias Alfreton, co. Derby, containing 200 acres more or less, and now or late in the tenure of Clement Melborne, Richard Walker, Robert Wild, William Handley, John Brunt, Thomas Bacon, and widow Bacon, or some of them, together with all houses, barns etc.; warranty by the said John against himself and Sir John Zowch, knight, deceased, his late father, and Sir John Zowch, knight, deceased, his late grandfather. Power of Attorney to Edward Newton and William Newton to deliver seisin.

Endorsements: Sealed and delivered in the presence of : Edward Byfeild, Richard Reddinge, Richard Goodwins, and Francis Byfeld.Full and peaceful possesion and seisin was taken and delivered in the said grounds to the within-named William harries by the within-named Edward Newton, one of the attorneys named, according to the purport, form and effect of this writing, in the presence of: Edward Byfeild, Richard Reddinge, Richard Goodwins, Francis Byfeld and Robert Wyld.Memorandum that John Brunt, tenant of part of the grounds and premises within-named, did attorne tenant to the said William Harries the 28th January in the year abovesaid, and give the said William, 2d., in the presence of: John Bullocke, Richard Gresten, his mark, William Hunte, his mark.Memorandum that Clement Melborne, tenant of part of the grounds and premises within-named, did attorn tenant to the said William Harries, and did give him 4d.; in the presence of: Edward Byfeild, Richard Reddinge, Richard Goodwins, Robert Wyld, Franics Byfeld.Memorandum that Richard Walker, tenant of part of the grounds and premises within-named, did attorn tenant to the said William Harries, and did give him 2d.; in the presence of: George Mather, William Radfoth, William Smith, Adam Soresbe.[In another hand] 20 June 1 James.
