Sale, for £85, by Nicholas Longford of Longford, co. Derby, esquire, to William Critche of Stubbingedge, co. Derby, gentleman, of 2 messuages and 2 bovates of land, meadow and pasture in Butterley in the parish of Ashover, co. Derby, now or late in the occupation of Ralph Kirkeland or Peter Woode, and one messuage and one bovate of land, meadow or pasture in Nether Stubbing and Haughfelde in the said parish, now or late in the occupation of James Dale, together with all lands etc. in Butterley, Nether Stubbing, Haughfelde and in the said parish of Ashover now in the tenure of the said Ralph, Peter and James; and the said Nicholas covenants for himself and Martha his wife to make a sufficient estate in law in fee simple to the said William Critche, at his cost and charge, within 5 years, by deed or otherwise, saving that the said Nicholas and Martha his wife shall not be bound to travel above 20 miles from the now dwelling house of the said Nicholas at Longford aforesaid or such other house where the said Nicholas shall live, except in the city of London or Westminster if the said Nicholas and Martha shall be living in London; and the said Nicholas covenants to Ann, wife of William Critche, and his heirs and executors, power to sell the said messuages and lands.
