Articles of Agreement indented between Sir Arthur Ingram of Templenewsam, co. York, knight, and Paul Fletcher of Walton, co. Derby, gentleman. First, that £17,000 is to be paid for the purchase of the manor of Walton and all lands which the said Sir Arthur and Sir Arthur Ingram the elder, his father, since deceased, purchased of Sir Francis Fuliambe [Foljambe]. And the said Paul Fletcher covenants to pay £1000 to the said Sir Arthur at or before 12 February next, at Mr Humphrey Shalcroses shop, scrivener near the Temple Gate in Fleet Street, London, to such person as Sir Arthur shall nominate, and to pay £3250 before the 15 May next coming at the Middle Temple Hall, London. And the said Sir Arthur covenants that if the said two sums are paid as appointed, that he will abate to the said Paul one-fourth of the half year's rent of the premises which shall become due at Whitsuntide next coming by a lease thereof formerly made to him by the said Sir Arthur the elder and Sir Arthur the younger. And the said Paul covenants to pay to the said Sir Arthur £12,750 before 11 September next coming, the same Sir Arthur promising that if the said Paul desires it, he will give him time upon good security for £1000, part of the said £12,750, for 3 months without paying interest. And the said Sir Arthur shall warrant part of the premises called Borthorpe against the heirs and assigns of Lady Molineux.
